Read five-star review by Brendan O’Rourke in Entertainment.ie here.
“The one man show – a daunting prospect for both audience and actor alike. A sole figure must fill the stage and hold an audience with their story resulting in an experience, which can land on opposite sides of the spectrum from sheer brilliance to painful to watch. This Landmark Production of Howie the Rookie has an added weight thrown into the balance.”
The word is out! A brand new production of Howie the Rookie, written and directed by Mark O’Rowe and starring Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, will open at Project Arts Centre on Monday 17th June, with previews from Thursday 13th.
As featured on entertainment.ie:
Howie the Rookie first took to the stage in 1999, cementing Mark O’Rowe as one of Ireland’s most unique and exciting contemporary playwrights. This summer Howie the Rookie is coming toProject Arts Centre with a new version of the show, re-imagined for one actor and directed by Mark O’Rowe himself.
This new Landmark production, starring IFTA Best Actor Award winner Tom Vaughan-Lawlortells the story of two young men from Dublin – Howie and The Rookie – over the course of two nights. Their stories intertwine and the audience is brought on a white-knuckle ride through a nightmare landscape that is sometimes hilarious and sometimes grotesque.
This tantalising writer/director combination puts Howie the Rookie firmly at the top of the summer theatre highlights list. Don’t miss Howie the Rookie when it comes to Project Arts Centre: 17th June – 6th July (with previews on 13th – 16th June) 2013.
